Official Mexican Government Vehicle Import Permits
Will you be traveling farther than 20km from the border and/or outside the states of Baja or Sanora (the Mexico "free zone")? If so, you will need to get a vehicle importation permit. This permit can be obtained online by going to the following website: Temporary Import Permit. After filling out the information online you will receive a pass code and then need to visit any Banjercito location to obtain your Vehicle Import Permit. You need to get it between 24 hrs and 15 days of receiving the pass code.
